Excerpts - Cadec 4000 brochure
(Note: The Cadec 4000 is a vehicle information system made up of a hardened onboard computer, peripheral devices, and software applications that capture real world data from a trucking fleet’s operations.)
Headline:
Cadec Modular Series 4000
Subhead:
The Cadec Vehicle Information System is more than just hardware and a set of features -- It’s a business information tool.
Growing Your Business by Improving Customer Service
Cadec tracks all manner of pickup and delivery data: delivery time, distance to the location, quantity and type of shipment, etc. Our customers use this data to measure their actual performance against their planned performance and make adjustments—to eliminate problems or to seize opportunities—accordingly. That results in better response times, more efficient routing and scheduling, and improved customer service.
And these days, smart, leading-edge companies are promoting quality customer service as a way to attract new customers and grow their business.
One Cadec user is so keen on the benefits of its Cadec system, it has created a special brochure touting Cadec as a selling point to potential customers. The company is saying, in effect, that using Cadec proves its commitment to delivering quality customer service. …
Reducing Costs
When your fleet runs with Cadec onboard, you start saving money immediately because drivers drive their vehicles the way you spec'd them. That reduces the amount of overspeeding, over-revving and idling, and that reduces the cost of fuel and maintenance.
Further, when drivers operate their vehicles more carefully, accident rates go down and insurance claims are reduced. That leads to good driver discounts and lower premiums. One Cadec customer saw his insurance costs decrease 3% - 5%. With this savings he was able to bid accounts more competitively and sign up more customers.
Increasing Productivity
Saving time is the key to increased productivity.
With the 4000, drivers save time because they don't have to keep manual logs; all the data they input into the onboard display is recorded and later printed out for them. Our customers report saving as much as one hour per driver each day in paperwork alone.
Office personnel save time because they don't have to decipher handwriting or track down drivers to interpret for them. They save even more time because they don't have to re-key Cadec data into third party applications such as spreadsheets.
Callout: Customers report saving as much as one hour per driver each day in paperwork alone.
In addition, our customers improve their productivity by using Cadec to plan more efficient routes, identify problematic delivery windows, determine the actual costs of distribution operations and identify inefficient vehicle operation patterns.
Promoting Safety
One of the most important uses of the Cadec Modular Series 4000 onboard computer is as a tool to promote safety.
You set the driving standards (speed, RPM, rate of deceleration, etc.) for your fleet. On the road, the 4000 constantly monitors engine and driver data and warns drivers who are in danger of violating those standards. In addition, if there is a sudden deceleration or an accident (and the driver presses the accident key), Cadec automatically records speed and RPM in a 180-second "window," 150 seconds before and 30 seconds after the event.
Callout: Because of Cadec, one company reduced its accident rate by 60%.
At the end of the trip, the system prints out reports on driving performance, including a Sudden Deceleration Report and an Accident Report, if there were any. Customers use these reports as a proactive management and education tool, reviewing them with drivers and discussing areas of improvement. Some customers have even used the Accident Report as evidence to prove their drivers were not at fault in accidents.
Because of Cadec, one company reduced its accident rate by 60%. Another firmly believes our system has "literally saved lives." …
